Description

East Hill House, formerly known as Berryfields, is a fine 18th-century town house that retains much of its original character. It is constructed of red brick and features an early 18th-century front with three storeys, with the top storey added around 1742 for George Wegg. The façade includes a seven-window range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in segmental heads. A notable feature is the central doorcase, which has a segmental pediment, an enriched frieze, and panelled reveals, leading to an eight-panel door. Inside, the house boasts several impressive features, including a grand entrance hall, a staircase, panelling, and richly decorated and moulded plaster ceilings. Additionally, the Roman Town Wall is part of the property boundary. East Hill House is part of a group that includes All Saints House and Grey Friars.
