Description

Essex County Hospital is an original block built in 1819 by Mark Greystone Thompson. The structure is made of grey gault brick and features a central block that is three storeys high with three sash windows that have glazing bars. It includes a two-storey Ionic porch and has two-storey wings with two windows on either side, leading to projecting two-storey pavilions. The roofs are hipped and covered with slate.
