Description
Thorrington's Farmhouse is a 16th century, and possibly earlier, timber-framed and plastered building with a red tile gabled roof. It has a rectangular plan and features two parallel cross wings at the east end, which have hipped roofs. The farmhouse has an early 19th century painted brick facade with a parapet wall and stands two storeys tall. The facade includes a two-window range of 19th century vertical sliding double hung sashes with glazing bars, along with one blind opening on the first floor. Below, there are modern casements. The remainder of the facade features a two-window range of 18th century vertical sliding double hung sashes with glazing bars. There is a lean-to extension at the west end and an original 16th century chimney stack. Inside, some original framing is exposed. The farmhouse was originally moated.
