Description
Copford Hall is a building dating from around 1760, which was a re-building of an earlier house and underwent alterations in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a red plain tile hipped roof. The building has three storeys with parapet walls and a seven-window range of double hung vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars. There is a stone string course, and the central front section projects forward, featuring a three-window arrangement and a circa 1620 double casement Tuscan entrance porch. At the rear, there are two storeys with two full-height bays that also have double hung vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars, along with a Tuscan columned porch. This former house was once a residence for the Bishops of London prior to 1561, and the grounds were landscaped by Richard Woods.
