Description
Brooksby's, formerly known as the Old Rectory, is a building that was constructed on the site of a 16th-century house from around 1550 and likely incorporates some of the original structure. It was altered in 1801 by Brooksby and underwent renovations in 1973. This house was notable for being the first in the village to replace its casements with the "new sash" windows. The current structure features an early 19th-century red brick front, stands two storeys high with attics, and has a three-window range. The double-hung sashes include glazing bars, with three-light windows in the outer sections, all set in shallow semi-circular headed recesses. Originally, there was a central doorway which has since been replaced by a window. The roof is slate, hipped, and includes one flat-headed dormer on each front.
