Description

The barn at Newland Hall is a mid-17th century structure that features a timber frame and is weatherboarded, standing on a late 16th century red brick plinth. It has a modern red plain tile half-hipped roof, with the rear and end walls being brick nogged. The barn measures five bays in length and includes a central gabled midstrey. The frame is of high quality for its period, being virtually complete with through bracing and a Queen post roof. It also has 18th century hanging knees supporting the tie beams and halved and bladed top plate scarfs.
