Description

The building is a granary located immediately southwest of Rettendon Place, dating from the early 19th century. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a brick plinth, topped with a corrugated sheet steel roof that has gabled ends. The granary is a large structure with six bays, including midstreys in the second and fifth bays, and an outshut at the front. The central four bays are floored, while the south end bay is partly floored and the north end bay remains open to the roof.

The exterior is two storeys high, with large gabled midstreys on either side of the centre. The left midstry is open on the ground floor and has a loft door and windows above, while the right midstry features plank double doors on both the ground and first floors, with a window above. There is a brick outshut between the midstreys that has two windows and plank double doors to the left. The rear side has plank doors for both the ground floor and loft.

Inside, the ground floor is partitioned, with the north bay lacking a floor. The south bay is partly floored and includes an open well in the southeast corner. Some bin partitions are present on the first floor. The interior features unchamfered floor beams, jowled posts with down braces to the floor beams, king-post and strut trusses, and staggered tenoned purlins. The frame is largely intact, including the original common rafters.
