Description

The House of Retreat is a late 18th century or early 19th century timber-framed and plastered house located in Pleshey. The ground floor is faced in colourwashed brick and there are later additions at the rear. The building has two storeys and features a three-window range with double-hung sash windows. The first-storey windows have glazing bars, while the ground floor includes two later 19th-century splayed bays. The roof is tiled. The House of Retreat is part of a group that includes the Old Post House, Parsonage Cottage, Old White Horse, 1 and 2 White Horse Cottages, St Michaels Cottages, Vale House, The Folly, Rose Cottage, Butlers, and House and Mount Stores.
