Description
47 and 49 Church Street is a notable late 19th century yellow brick building, constructed in 1868 originally as a brewery and currently serving as a furniture factory. The structure has five storeys and a basement, featuring a nine-window range on the southwest front and a five-window range on the southeast front. Some windows still have their original 19th century lights with cast iron glazing bars, although most have been replaced with 20th century versions. The ground storey windows are designed with semi-circular heads and are set back between heavy pilasters with pointed arches. The first and second storey windows are also recessed between pilasters, but they have two-centred arched heads. The first storey windows include stuccoed cills and heads, and there is decorative brickwork between the first and second storeys. The roof is made of corrugated asbestos.
