Description

This is an early 17th-century malting range situated to the east of Thorleys Farmhouse. The building runs along a north-west to south-east axis and is timber-framed with weatherboard cladding and a corrugated asbestos roof. The front elevation features two-light windows and ledged doors, providing access to both the ground floor and the loft space. A further outshut with a pantile roof is attached to the rear elevation. The interior retains substantial original timber framing, including arch-braced tie beams, through wall bracing, and a side purlin roof with intermittent collars. The roof structure also displays halved and bladed top plate scarfs. The Maltings forms part of a group with Thorley’s Farmhouse, Glenmore, Thorley’s Cottage, Laburnam Cottage and Off Licence Store, and Runnymede Cottage and Runnymede Foxes.
