Description
Thorley's Farmhouse is a 15th century timber-framed and plastered hall house located on Little Watham Main Road. Originally, it featured cross wings at both the north and south ends, but the north cross wing has been demolished. The farmhouse has undergone alterations and extensions from the 16th century to the south wing, as well as 17th century changes to the main block. Additional alterations occurred in the 19th century and later. The building stands two storeys high and has casement windows with glazing bars. The roof is tiled and features a central chimney stack dating from around 1600, which has attached diagonal pilaster shafts. Thorley's Farmhouse is part of a group that includes Glenmore, Thorley's Cottage, Laburnum Cottage, Off Licence Store, Rumymede Cottage, Runnyrede Foxes, and Maltings.
