Description

Moulsham Corn Mill is a late 18th-century water mill. It is timber framed and weather-boarded, standing on brick footings that are 5 feet high. The building has four storeys with attics beneath a gabled roof and features a jettied central sack hoist loft. The windows are arranged in pairs of 9-pane pivot sashes. The roof is covered in slate and has eaves supported by paired modillions. The plan of the mill is rectangular, and there is a stock brick range added at the rear during the late 19th century. Inside, the ground floor contains a central row of 9-inch by 9-inch samson posts that support deep softwood joists. Currently, there is no water power or machinery remaining.
