Description

Belsteads Farmhouse is originally a 15th-century timber-framed and plastered house with cross wings at the north and south ends. It was significantly altered and extended in the 17th century. The house has two storeys and a three-window front with double-hung sash windows containing glazing bars. The doorway is framed by pilasters and topped with a cornice. The roof is tiled, and a prominent late 17th-century chimney stack, dated 1678 and bearing the initials “I P,” stands in the centre. This stack features pilasters with flat, shield-shaped corbels below the bases. The interior retains original features, including a late 17th-century staircase in the south wing.
