Description
The Windmill Inn is a 17th century timber-framed and plastered house located on the west side of The Tye in East Hanningfield. It was refronted in the 18th century and renovated in the 20th century. The building has two storeys and attics, featuring a three-window range with casements that include glazing bars. The doorway is framed by a 20th-century doorcase designed in an 18th-century style, complete with pilasters and a pediment. The roof is tiled and includes two gabled dormers. Inside, the building showcases exposed framing, ceiling beams, and joists. The Windmill Inn, along with Rails Farmhouse, The Post Office, and The Old Forge, forms a group of buildings, with The Post Office being noted as a building of local interest.
