Description

The Old Forge is an 18th-century red brick house located on the east side of The Tye in East Hanningfield. The building is two storeys high and features a three-window range with 20th-century casements. There is a central doorway, and the roof is tiled with two dormers that slope downwards. At the north end of the house, there is a single-storey wing. A forge was originally attached to the north end but was demolished in the mid-20th century. The Old Forge is included for its group value, as it forms a group with Rails Farmhouse and the Windmill Inn.
