Description

The Chelmsford Club, formerly known as 'Laurel Grove', was built between 1845 and 1848. It is constructed of gault brick with stone and stucco trim. The front elevation faces north and features two storeys with three bays, each bay set forward. At the center, there is a tetrastyle Corinthian portico with an entablature. The building has five windows, arranged three over two, which are clear-glazed sashes with mullions and margin-sashes. There are string courses at both the first floor and eaves levels, supported on consoles. Two gault chimney stacks are located south of the ridge line. The roofs are hipped and covered with slate.
