Description
The wall at Shen Place Almshouses, built in 1910, is located 9 meters north of the Almshouses. It is constructed of red brick with flint panels and features a shaped brick coping with Portland Stone inserts at each panel interval. The wall is approximately 38 meters long and 0.8 meters high. Above the wall, there is open trellised fencing that reaches a height of 4 meters, with fixing posts set at the intervals of the panels. There are single leaf gates at both the eastern and western ends, as well as a principal double leaf gate in the center. The gateways are flanked by red brick piers topped with squat pyramidal Portland Stone caps, and the central piers also incorporate flint panels similar to those in the wall. The gates are vertically boarded and feature trellis work matching that of the wall head. This wall is part of a group with the Almshouses.
