Description

The bridge at Great Myles, built between 1770 and 1771 by Richard Woods for John Luther, is a Grade II listed structure located in Kelvedon Hatch. It is constructed of red brick with some stone elements and features a humped, single span with gracefully curved outward sweeping walls. The bridge has a segmental arch that is rusticated and includes a stone keystone. The parapet is designed with recessed panels and has a dentilled course at the lower base, along with two roundels positioned below. Stone capping adorns the parapets. The construction of the bridge cost £250, as it was built to dam a tributary of the River Roding to create a lake.
