Description
Shaw Cottage is a house built in the early 19th century. It is timber-framed and has a roughcast render, topped with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building has a rectangular shape and faces east, featuring an internal stack at the rear right. There is a lean-to extension at the rear right that creates a catslide roof with the main structure. The right side of the cottage is weatherboarded.
On the ground floor, there is one early 19th-century sash window with 8+8 lights and a moulded surround. The first floor has one similar sash window and another with 6+6 lights, both with similar surrounds. The entrance features a 20th-century half-glazed door set within a simple early 19th-century doorcase, which has a shallow hood supported by profiled brackets. The cottage is included for its group value with other nearby structures.
