Description
Ivy Chimneys is a 16th to 17th century timber-framed and plastered house that has undergone alterations and additions in the 18th and 19th centuries, with renovations in the 20th century. It is now part of Bridge Hospital. The building features wings that extend to the north-east and north-west. The north-west wing is constructed of painted brick. Both the north-east and south-east fronts have double gables with shaped 19th century bargeboards. The house is two storeys tall. The south-west front has a window arrangement of three over three, while the south-east front has three over one, and the north-east front has three windows, all of which are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, although some are casements. The south-west front includes a six-panel door with the upper panels glazed, flanked by pilasters and topped with a semi-circular headed fanlight, which is blocked. The roofs are tiled, and there is a rebuilt base of a 16th century chimney stack.
