Description
This is an 18th-century bakehouse located approximately 5 meters west of The Priest House in Wethersfield. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The bakehouse is aligned east to west and features a large oven on the south side, along with an internal stack. It is a single-storey building with a plain boarded door, which dates from the 18th century or earlier, located on the east side. There is also a 20th-century casement window on the south side. The main frame is constructed from hardwood, which is jointed and pegged, although some of the studs have been replaced with softwood. The original timbers show significant smoke blackening. This building is included for its group value with nearby structures.
