House. Early C17, altered in C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red plain tiles. 2 bays facing S, with original external stack at right end and C20 stack in front left corner. C19 single-storey wing in front of left end. 2 storeys and attics. Ground floor, one C19 horizontal sash and one C2O casement. First floor 3 C20 casements. 2 more in C20 gabled dormers. 4-panel door in right side of front wing. The first-floor windows in the left return and the rear elevation are of unusual type, and may be C20 assemblies of earlier components. Main stack plastered. Jowled posts. Close studding with slightly curved braces trenched to the inside. Face-halved and bladed scarf in wallplate. Disused wood-burning hearth of 0.33 metre brickwork, chamfered mantel beam with lamb's tongue stops; smaller later C17 inserted hearth at first floor, with jambs of 0.23 metre brickwork. Over ground floor, chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue and notch stops; plain joists of vertical section. Over first floor, similar original attic floor with more elaborate stops, each with an additional step. The name is recent. RCHM 85.
