Description
This building is a cart lodge with a granary above, located 35 metres south of Withies Green Farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century and was altered in the 19th century. The structure is timber framed, primarily weatherboarded, with some areas clad in red brick laid in Flemish bond. The roof is covered with handmade red plain tiles. It consists of three bays aligned approximately north to south, with the cart lodge open to the east. The building is one storey high with a loft and features a lean-to extension to the south, which is roofed with red clay pantiles. The plinth is made of red brick and is approximately 0.5 metres high, while the north wall is bricked. Inside, there are plain joists of vertical section, which are jointed to transverse beams using tenons with diminished haunches and pendant soffits. The roof is gambrel in shape and half-hipped at both ends.
