Description
Gosfield Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century, constructed of red brick with a grey slate roof. It features three red brick chimney stacks, including an external chimney stack on the right side. The front has four windows, each with small paned vertically sliding sashes and gauged brick arches above them.
An enclosed porch adds character with Gothic sidelights that have moulded labels, and a two-panel door with glazed margins leading to a top light, along with a name fascia above. Extending forward from the porch is a notable flat-roofed iron canopy supported by fluted columns with moulded capitals and bases. The canopy is adorned with trefoiled arches and trellis infill.
The property includes attached curvilinear trellised railings set on gault brick plinths, topped with finials and urn heads on the moulded posts. There are double carriageway gates that match the railings, featuring trelliswork posts and mouldings leading to ball finials. Solid posts with similar mouldings and finials are present at the porch gateway, which has smaller double gates. The canopy and railings are significant features in the village.
