Description
The walls and railings attached to the North Lodge and stable buildings at Saling Grove date from the 19th century. They are constructed of red brick and feature some ornate cast iron railings at the front of Lodge Cottage. The walls are approximately 1.5 metres high and include stepped plinths and segmental brick coping. One section of the wall is located to the right of the stable block's right door and ends at the gateway to Saling Grove. Another section is to the left of the same door, curving northwest to the front of Lodge Cottage, where it is topped with ornate cast iron railings. This section continues east along Piccott's Lane, passing the buildings listed previously. The Piccott's Lane section consists of 35 bays, each approximately 10 feet wide, with pilaster buttresses in between. There is a gateway in Piccott's Lane, east of Lodge Cottage, from which a curved spur wall returns to connect to the right of the doorway to the covered yard.
