Description

The Rectory is an early 19th-century rectory, situated on Church Lane, Ridgewell. It is constructed of gault brick and red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof. The building has a double-pile, near-square plan and faces east, featuring two internal chimney stacks arranged symmetrically. It is two storeys high. The front elevation is of gault brick and features giant pilasters at the corners. A central porch contains a 19th-century glazed door, flanked by fluted columns and an entablature with triglyphs. The ground floor has two double-hung sash windows of 12 lights each, with flat brick arches, while the first floor has three such windows. The roof is hipped with a shallow pitch, long overhanging eaves with panelled soffits, and gault brick chimneys. The overall front elevation presents a symmetrical appearance. The remaining walls are of red brick, with gault brick giant pilasters at each corner.
