Description
Stuart House is an early 19th-century house that was altered in the late 19th century. It has a timber frame with a plastered exterior and is roofed with handmade red plain tiles. The building has a rectangular plan facing south, featuring a central entrance passage. There is a late 19th-century wing made of painted brick on the rear left side. To the rear right, there is a two-storey lean-to extension that is weatherboarded and has a slate roof, along with a single-storey lean-to extension with a slate roof at the back of both.
The house is two storeys high. On the ground floor, there are two late 19th-century splayed bay windows with sash windows arranged in a 2-2-2 light configuration. The first floor has three late 19th-century sash windows with four lights each. The entrance features a six-panel door set in a doorcase with simple moulded panels and a moulded flat canopy. There are three stone steps leading up to the door, with a wrought iron D-section handrail on each side, supported by three plain stanchions and a curved stay at the lowest point. The roof rises approximately 0.50 metre between the door and the left bay. This building is included for its group value.
