Description
The Franciscan Convent is an early 19th-century house that is timber-framed and plastered, located on the bank of the River Blackwater, north of Bradford Bridge. The building has two storeys and features two short wings that project forward at the north and south ends of the west front. The west front has a three-window range, with the outer windows in the wings being two-storey, three-light bays. The south front has a six-window range. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set in flush cased frames.
The central part of the west front includes a recessed porch supported by Tuscan columns in antis, with a cornice and frieze positioned between the wings. The roofs are hipped and covered with slate. Additionally, there is a further wing that extends to the east on the south front.
