Description
Heron Cottage is a cottage that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed with a timber frame and has a plastered exterior. The roof is covered with red plain tiles and features two gabled dormers. There are red brick chimney stacks located at the rear left and front right of the building. The cottage has one storey and attics, with a four-window range of square leaded casements that have two and three lights. A 20th-century vertically boarded door is situated to the left, while to the right, there is a single-storey lean-to extension with a red tiled roof, which is incorporated into a garden wall made of red brick and dressed flint. At one point in its history, the building was used as an almshouse.
