Description
This is a mid-19th century house located on the south-east side of Church Street, Coggeshall. It is constructed of gault and red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof. The house is a single range facing northwest, featuring a gault brick stack positioned in front of the axis near the right end, and an internal red brick stack at the left end. It has two storeys and a three-window front, with original or late 19th-century sash windows, each containing four lights. A centrally positioned six-panel door is set within a plain doorcase and sheltered by a moulded flat canopy supported on scrolled brackets, leading up three stone steps. The front elevation and the left return are of gault brick, although these were largely covered by creeper at the time of a survey in June 1987. The rear elevation is of red brick. The roof is hipped with a low pitch. Deeds indicate the house was constructed in either 1853 or 1856.
