Description
The wall enclosing the walled garden, located approximately 15 metres east of Cressing Temple Farmhouse, dates from the 17th century and was altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in both English and irregular bond, forming an approximately rectangular garden that measures 25 metres from north to south and 17 metres from west to east. The southeast corner of the wall is rounded. A 20-metre section in the middle of the east side was rebuilt in the 18th century, while the oblique length to the southwest is from the 19th century. The west and south sides each feature a doorway with a three-centred arched head, complete with ovolo-moulded arch and jambs. The north side has a similar doorway, but with chamfered arch and jambs. There is a chamfered plinth on both sides of the wall. Additionally, the outside of the west wall near the north end has four buttresses. Part of the west wall includes a dogtooth course beneath an overhanging top course. The wall stands at a height of 2 to 3 metres and is included for its group value.
