Description
This is an early 19th century farmhouse constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The house is arranged in an L-shape, facing southeast, with a rear wing extending from the left side. Internal brick stacks are prominent, one at the right end of the main range and another at the left end of the rear wing. A late 19th century two-storey extension with a slate roof has been added to the rear right angle, creating an almost rectangular overall plan.
The southeast-facing front elevation features a three-bay arrangement of early 19th century sash windows, each with 16 lights and flat brick arches. The central entrance has a six-panel door, with the top two panels glazed, set within a reeded doorcase topped by a flat canopy supported on profiled brackets. The southwest-facing elevation has a mix of windows on the ground floor: one slatted window, one 19th century casement, and one early 19th century sash with 16 lights, all with flat brick arches. The first floor mirrors the arrangement with three 19th century casements and one sash window. The roof is fully hipped. A 19th century horizontally sliding sash window of 24 lights is visible in the return wall of the rear extension. The group value of this building lies in its well-preserved early 19th century character and brick detailing.
