Description
The gate piers and walls form part of the east and north boundary of Belchamp Hall and are linked to the former stable block. They date from the late 18th century and 19th century. The pair of gate piers serves as a service entrance to Belchamp Hall and is constructed of rubble and reused carved masonry, featuring approximately pyramidal tops. Each pier is topped with an iron heraldic emblem that includes a crown and a dragon's head with a forked (arrow-headed) tongue. To the north, there is an irregular length of red brick walling that forms the eastern and northern boundary of the curtilage of Belchamp Hall. A further section of walling extends back at right angles to connect with the corner of the former stable block.
