Description
Park Cottages are a pair of cottages dating to around 1850-1860, built for Samuel Courtauld of Gosfield Hall, who owned the Halstead and Bocking weaving mills. The cottages are constructed of red brick with gault brick dressings around the windows, doors, and chimney stacks. They have plaster and batten decoration above a central band and a red plain tiled roof. There are three symmetrically placed chimney stacks along the ridge, and further chimney stacks project forward to the left and right of the feature gables. Three feature gables are present, each with bargeboards, finials, and timber corbels. The cottages are two storeys high with attics, featuring a three-window range of three-light iron casement windows with ornate glazing bars. Gauged brick arches feature above the ground floor windows, and two central plank and muntin doors provide access.
