Description

This is a barn located approximately 70 metres east of Stanton's Farmhouse, dating from the 16th to 17th century but originating from the 13th century. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, featuring a half hipped roof clad in corrugated asbestos. The barn has two gabled midstreys and is aisled, with a roof supported by queen struts and side purlins. Arched braces connect to the tie beams, and the structure consists of eight bays. The top plate has a bladed scarf joint, and several pairs of 13th-century storey posts remain in the restored barn from the 16th and 17th centuries, with the later posts being jowled.
