Description
Red Lion Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was formerly an inn, dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plaster, featuring painted brick and some weatherboarding. The roof is covered with plain tiles from the 20th century. The building has a ridge stack and an end stack on the right side. It is two storeys high and has an L-shaped plan, although the original rear wing to the north has been demolished. The farmhouse includes a lobby entry and two symmetrically positioned rear staircase turrets, along with later 19th and 20th-century outshuts. The main entrance is adorned with a tented canopy and a finial, leading to a fine original 17th-century panelled door. There are four ground floor windows with sixteen panes each and four first floor windows with eight panes each, all hung sash style. Inside, the farmhouse features two inglenook hearths and exposed stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
