Description

Nickersons is a cottage located on Barton High Street, dating from the early to mid-17th century, with an extension added in the mid-20th century. The building is timber-framed, plaster rendered, and features long straw thatching, with a half-hipped roof. It has an original red brick ridge stack and two diagonally set chimneys. The cottage has a three-bay layout and a lobby entry plan, consisting of one storey and an attic, with one dormer window. There are three windows in total, including two small casements. The doorway is situated in a mid-20th century porch that leads to the lobby entry. Above the doorway, there is a date of 1671, which likely indicates when the original cottage was built. The bay facing the road is a mid-20th century extension made of brick, which is painted and thatched.
