Description

The Icehouse is an icehouse dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is cut into the natural chalk and features a low dome roof made of red bricks, which are two and a half inches in size, and covered with earth. Access to the icehouse is provided by a short vaulted tunnel that leads in from the north. At the bottom of the shaft, there is a square meltwater soakaway that has a wrought iron grating.
