Description

A row of cottages located on Babraham High Street. The cottages likely date from the 18th century, but were refronted in the 19th century. They are characterised by a red brick front elevation, with Nos. 25 and 26 featuring chequered brickwork, and flint rubble with gault brick dressings. The front elevation has a plain tiled roof, while the rear has corrugated asbestos. There are four red brick ridge stacks. The cottages are two storeys high with a rear outshut. A dentil brick eaves cornice runs along the top of the front elevation. Segmental brick arches feature above the door and window openings. The doors consist of five flush-panelled doors, one 20th-century glazed door, and one boarded door. There are three ground floor horizontal sliding sash windows and three replacement casement windows, and twelve first floor casement windows alongside two horizontal sliding sash windows. The interior of No. 26 includes two early fireplaces and a cellar.
