Description
The Parish Church of All Saints is a Grade II* listed building. The west tower dates from the 14th century, while the nave and chancel were rebuilt in 1866 by W. M. Fawcett. The church is constructed from field stones with clunch and limestone dressings, and features brick interior walls with black brick and limestone details. The roofs are covered with modern plain tiles.
On the south elevation, the unbuttressed tower has three stages, with moulded string courses that indicate reduced wall thicknesses. The aisle and nave roof weatherings are visible on the south and east walls, and the plain parapet has been rebuilt, featuring an asymmetrically placed gargoyle. The belfry window is a two-light design set in a two-centred arch. The nave includes a limestone gabled south doorway, a plinth band, and a band connecting a single trefoiled-light window on the left to a large gabled two-light window, with a three trefoiled-light window to the right. The chancel is apsidal.
Inside, the chancel has a rib-vaulted roof, while the nave features a roof of four arch-braced bays with painted details and stencil decoration on the plaster ceilings. The tower arch is made of clunch and is two-centred. There is an intermural belfry stair, and the font, which has mask ornament and fleurons, is set on a panelled clunch base, dating from the 14th century or later.
