Description
Top Farmhouse is a house that likely dates back to the early 17th century, with alterations made in the late 17th century and a 19th-century lean-to added at the rear. It features a timber frame that is plaster rendered and cased in yellow brick. The building has a half-hipped, plain tiled roof at the rear, which is late 17th century and includes a large red brick ridge stack. The house has a three-room plan and stands two storeys tall. On the first floor, there are four flush frame casements from the 20th century, while the ground floor has tripartite hung sashes. The main doorway is located at the low end of the centre room, and there is a 19th-century cast-iron porch with trellis work. The interior was only partially inspected, but one room, likely the original parlour, features a main ceiling beam with double ovolo moulding and a carved stop, as well as stop-chamfered joists. The house also has a cellar.
