Description
Rectory Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with a late 18th-century extension. It underwent renovations in the early 20th century following a fire. The building is constructed of timber framing and brick, covered with roughcast render, and features a red plain tiled roof. It has a tall gault brick ridge stack and a gable end stack on the west side. The original structure is two storeys high and has a continuous jetty, with a three-unit plan that includes a 'chimney bay' and an original cross passage located behind the stack, where the sealed main entrance is indicated by jetty brackets. The west bay has been rebuilt to serve as the main entrance. The extension to the west is two storeys with an attic, and there is a single-storey rear wing to the east. The main entrance features a 20th-century door and an early 20th-century transomed bay window with casements on the left side. The building has one ground floor and two first floor horizontal sliding sash windows. Inside, there are exposed stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
