Country house, rebuilt c.1760, dated rainwater heads, for Edward Leeds (d.1803) possibly including part of C16 house. Early C19 dining room added to north west by Newton family and west wing incorporating C18 outbuildings. Red brick with limestone dressings. Low pitched hipped slate roofs, five stacks. Three storeys. Symmetrical facades of nine 'bays'. South east facade with two outer 'bays' slightly projecting, stone band at first floor, moulded stone cornice and plain coping to parapet. C19 Ionic portico spanning five central 'bays' with cast iron piers and limestone steps. Painted stone Tuscan doorcase with half glazed double doors. Flat, red gauged brick arches and jambs to twelve-paned hung sash windows at ground and first floors; smaller second floor windows. North west facade, pedimented with centre three 'bays' slightly projecting. Interior: mainly C18 and early C19 details including staircases and chimney pieces.
