Description

The Windmill is a Grade II listed smock windmill built in 1808 by Thomas Hunt of Soham. It has a timber frame with horizontal weatherboarding on a brick first stage, and features an octagonal plan with three stages, a revolving conical cap, and a fantail. Of the four sails, two are intact. Inside, the mill retains much of its original machinery. Unlike most mills in Cambridgeshire, it has three runner stones that are overdriven, with the great spur wheel located on the bin floor.
