Description
Histon Manor House is an early 19th-century house that may incorporate parts of an earlier building, as indicated by the 1808 Enclosure Award Map. It features a later 19th-century service wing to the right and rear extensions. The structure is made of cement-rendered brick with imitation masonry joints and has low-pitched hipped slate roofs with tall ridge stacks and rear stacks, suggesting that it originally had a higher-pitched roof. The house is two storeys and a basement, with five symmetrical bays, and the central bay is recessed above the main entrance.
A cast stone Tuscan portico with stone steps leads to a wide, nine-panelled door topped by a semi-circular fanlight with sidelights. The windows are twelve-paned recessed hung sashes with flat brick arches on both floors. The ground floor windows are larger and feature cast stone cornices supported by console brackets. Inside, 19th-century details include a staircase in the staircase hall and some modern panelling.
