Description
Nos. 9 and 11 on Little Lane are two cottages that were originally one dwelling, dating back to around 1700. They were renovated and restored in the mid to late 20th century. The cottages feature a timber-framed structure that is rendered and topped with long straw thatch, and they have a half hipped roof. A red brick ridge stack is present. The layout follows a lobby entry plan, and the buildings are two storeys high with an attic. There is one dormer, and on the first floor, there are two late 20th-century casement windows, with two more on the ground floor flanking the doorway to the lobby entry. The eastern end has been extended by one bay, and this extension is also framed, rendered, and has a thatched roof. At the rear of No. 9, there is a large late 20th-century extension. Inside, the cottages display timber framing of regular scantling and feature a red brick inglenook hearth.
