Description
Pond Farmhouse is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the late 15th century or early 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features an exposed timber frame, which is plastered or covered with asbestos sheeting on the first floor, and painted brick. It has low-pitched hipped roofs covered with slate from the early 19th century. The house is two storeys high, with a main north-south range and a crosswing to the north. The front elevation jetties out. There is a stack behind the ridge and a side stack to the south that has been reduced and capped. The west facade includes four ground floor windows of various sizes with glazing bars, and four first floor windows that are four-paned hung sashes. There are two doorways; the one on the left is from the 19th century and features a six-panelled door with a fanlight above. Inside, the ground floor rooms have moulded ceiling beams. The farmhouse is located within a moated site, as noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments.
