Description
Dilleys is a cottage dating from the late 17th century. It features a timber-frame construction with a rendered exterior and a longstraw thatch roof that has ridges at two different levels. The cottage has one soft red brick ridge stack from the late 17th century and a later inserted stack from the 19th century. It is a single range with a four bay plan, consisting of one storey and an attic, and includes two dormers along with four 20th-century casement windows. The doorway is now located on the left side of the building.
Inside, one bay of the single storey section was originally open to the roof, which has a clasped side purlin structure with some smoke-blackened timbers that have been reused. There is a stop-chamfered main beam, and a hearth was inserted when the cottage was subdivided, likely in the 19th century.
