Description
Little Chishill Mill is a Grade II* post mill, possibly rebuilt in 1819 according to Wailes, with a scratching on a stud dated 1712. The main post was renewed in 1868 and is dated underneath the mill. It features patent sails from around 1912 to 1916, which replaced earlier canvas-covered sails. The mill is timber-framed, weather boarded, and painted, with brick piers. The main structure extends to the rear, housing the bolter, and has a restored fantail on a ladder. Inside, there is an iron main shaft, wooden driving wheels, and two pairs of stones on the upper floor. The mill was last used in 1951 and underwent renovation by Thompsons of Alford, Lincolnshire, in 1966.
