Description

This is a cottage dating from the 16th century, with significant alterations and rebuilding in the late 17th or early 18th century, and a 20th-century renovation. The building is timber-framed and has been plastered, with a plain tiled roof; some pantiles are visible on the north side. Originally a single storey, it was later heightened to include an attic, and the original three-unit plan was modified in the 19th century to include a barn to the west, at which time it was divided into two tenements. The south elevation features a boarded door to the left, with four ground-floor casement windows. There are three gabled dormer windows with casements above. Inside, original open hearths and floor frames are supported on clamps. Some original exposed timber framing remains, along with reused timber in later partitions.
